Plot

Maalik follows the story of Arjun Malhotra (Rajkummar Rao), a sharp, principled man who unexpectedly inherits a sprawling business empire after the mysterious death of his estranged father, a powerful industrialist. Reluctant at first, Arjun soon discovers that the empire is built on corruption, exploitation, and ties to the underworld. Determined to clean it up, he steps into the role of “Maalik” not as an owner of wealth, but as a guardian of justice. However, his idealism clashes with the ruthless forces that run the system. Kabir Sen (Prosenjit Chatterjee), a seasoned and feared crime lord who once partnered with Arjun’s father, sees Arjun’s rise as a threat to his dominance. What begins as a battle over power soon escalates into a deadly game of survival, with Arjun standing alone against a network of gangsters, politicians, and betrayers within his own company. In this chaos, Arjun finds an ally in Asha (Manushi Chhillar), a fearless investigative journalist who uncovers the dark truths of his father’s empire. Together, they unravel a conspiracy that could shake the foundations of the city. Maalik becomes not just a fight for ownership, but a war between legacy and conscience—where Arjun must decide what it truly means to be the “owner.”
