Plot

Pune Highway is a Hindi-language thriller directed by Rahul da Cunha and Bugs Bhargava Krishna. The film delves into the complexities of friendship and the unforeseen consequences of a tragic event. The narrative centers around a close-knit group of childhood friends—Khandu, Vishnu, Nicky, Natasha, and Babu—who have grown up together in the 'Shantibhavan' building in Mumbai. Their bond faces a severe test when a body is discovered floating in a lake approximately 200 kilometers away. The identification of the deceased sets off a chain of events that unravels long-held secrets, leading to a shocking and irreversible conclusion. Originally conceived as a one-room play performed across nine countries, Pune Highway was adapted for the screen to explore the fragility of friendships when confronted with unexpected challenges. The film combines elements of suspense and emotional drama, offering a poignant exploration of human relationships and the choices that define them. The ensemble cast includes Amit Sadh as Khandu, Jim Sarbh as Vishnu, Anuvab Pal as Nicky, Manjari Fadnis as Natasha, Ketaki Narayan as Mona, and Sudeep Modak as Pethe. Their performances have been noted for adding depth to the film's exploration of complex interpersonal dynamics. Pune Highway premiered at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in November 2024 and was released theatrically in India on 23 May 2025 .
