Plot

Songs of Paradise tells the inspiring journey of Zoya (Saba Azad), a young Kashmiri woman who dreams of becoming a singer in a land where music often struggles to find space amid conflict and conservatism. Raised by her widowed mother (Soni Razdan), Zoya grows up surrounded by stories of Raj Begum, the legendary "Melody Queen of Kashmir," whose music once echoed across the valley. Inspired by her, Zoya secretly begins training her voice, finding solace and identity in song. Her passion, however, clashes with societal expectations, her family’s fears, and the turbulence of Kashmir’s socio-political climate. She faces rejection, prejudice, and even threats, but also finds allies in Ayaan (Zain Khan Durrani), a local musician who shares her vision, and supportive mentors (Lillete Dubey, Sheeba Chaddha) who push her to embrace her gift. As Zoya’s voice begins to reach larger audiences, she becomes both a beacon of hope and a symbol of resistance, much like her idol Raj Begum. The film traces her struggles, heartbreaks, and triumphs as she battles to transform her dreams into reality, proving that music can be both a personal refuge and a universal language of peace.
